Privacy Policy for Tabú - Whatsapp Web Blur

Effective date: July 1, 2026. Tabú is a Chrome extension that applies a local visual privacy layer to WhatsApp Web.

1. Single purpose

Tabú helps users keep WhatsApp Web private in public spaces by blurring the page and revealing only the message, chat list item, composer, or contextual menu the user is actively interacting with.

2. Data collection

Tabú does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or store personal data, WhatsApp messages, contacts, media, browsing history, or account information.

3. Local processing

The extension works locally in the user's browser. It modifies the visual presentation of WhatsApp Web through a content script and does not send page contents to any server.

4. Chrome storage

Tabú uses Chrome extension storage only to save local preferences, such as whether the blur protection is enabled and the selected blur intensity.

5. Host permission

Tabú requests access to https://web.whatsapp.com/* so it can run on WhatsApp Web and apply the privacy blur effect to that site only.

6. Remote code

Tabú does not execute remote code. All extension logic is bundled inside the extension package submitted to the Chrome Web Store.

7. Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
